“The paradox of infinite speech is that it continues only because it is a way of listening. Finite speech ends with a silence of closure. Infinite speech begins with a disclosure of silence.” -James P. Carse
Poetry in Calligraphy is a means of investigating poems through hand written lettering. As you decipher the intricate lettering, your mind has a greater focus on the words and in turn the meaning of the poem. You are forced to slow down and read the poem with care. Additionally, calligraphy allows us to utilize an old tool in the context of something modern (a webpage). Our hope is to recover information lost in the process of switching over from analog to digital. The goal of this issue is to create a silent place where reading poetry can be experienced on a deeper level even through digital means. The use of a webpage allows for connection and collaboration on a broader scale and we would love to hear from you! Poems can be submitted via the "CONTRIBUTE" tab. Selected poems will then be hand written and posted on this page. Then, we will send the physical piece right to your doorstep. We look forward to collaborating with you!
